HILLSBORO, Ore.- On February 26, 2021, a Washington County jury found Christopher Noel Villarreal, age 45, guilty of three counts of first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, strangulation and fourth-degree assault. On March 30, 2021, Judge Ted Simms sentenced the defendant to 224 months prison. Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted the case against Mr. Villarreal.

The victim in this case is known to the defendant. In July of 2019, she awoke to Mr. Villarreal sexually assaulting her as she slept. She reported the attack to friends but did not report the incident to police. She confronted the defendant about the assault and told him never to do that again. However, four days later, he sexually assaulted her again. She awoke to the assault and tried to fight the defendant off but could not overpower him as he proceeded to strangle and physically assault her. 

The victim went to the hospital the next morning. She also reported the incident to the Hillsboro Police department which immediately launched an investigation.

At the sentencing hearing, the victim delivered a victim impact statement. The State also presented information from two other women who were victimized by the defendant. 

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office wishes to acknowledge the bravery of the victim in this case in reporting these assaults and confronting the defendant in court. Her courage gave two other women the strength to come forward. This office also thanks the Hillsboro Police Department, Detective Michelle Hahn and the Oregon State Police Forensic Lab for their work on the case. 

Mr. Villarreal will be transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.
